Natural Family Planning (NFP) is a natural way for couples to learn about a woman’s cycle and understand the signs her body gives throughout the month. By observing these natural signs each day, couples can recognize when they are fertile and when they are not. NFP doesn’t use hormones, chemicals, or barriers. Instead, it invites couples to work together, prayerfully discern their family planning decisions, and use this knowledge to help them achieve or postpone pregnancy in a way that reflects their faith and values.
Preparing for marriage? In the Diocese of Davenport, all engaged couples of childbearing age preparing for marriage are required to participate in a diocesan-approved Introductory Natural Family Planning (NFP) Instruction. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn together, deepen your understanding of fertility, and begin your married life with a shared foundation for making family planning decisions.
Engaged couples are encouraged to start NFP instruction at least four months prior to their wedding date.
