Bishop

On June 25, 2024, His Holiness Pope Francis announced the appointment of Bishop-Elect Dennis G. Walsh from the Diocese of Toledo as the new Bishop for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Davenport, Iowa.

Bishop-Elect Walsh will become the 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Davenport which was established in  1881 and contains over 83,000 Catholics and 74 parishes throughout the southeast quarter of the state. His ordination and installation is scheduled for Friday, September 27 at a time and location to
be determined.

O God, eternal shepherd of the faithful,
who tend your Church in countless ways
and rule over her in love,
grant, we pray, that Dennis, your servant,
whom you have set over your people,
may preside in the place of Christ
over the flock whose shepherd he is,
and be faithful as a teacher of doctrine,
a Priest of sacred worship
and as one who serves them by governing.
