The Office of Evangelization collaborates with lay and ordained parish and school leadership to integrate mission into the fabric of everything we do. The Church responds to the signs of the times in the light of the gospel. This is a creative task that discerns the call of the Holy Spirit in the life of the community.
Current Initiatives
The Good News(letter)
The Church has a mission of evangelization, so the Church should support people in living out this mission. The Good News(letter) was created to support just that for people in the Diocese of Davenport. Our efforts should be rooted in personal encounter, not cookie cutter or distant. This is a person-centered evangelization. We are going to support your efforts in 3 ways: story, action, and formation.
We received a grant to form parish leaders and leadership groups more deeply in evangelization. We all know that our mission is evangelization, but the question of how to do this is challenging. We will create space for conversation and creativity to help participants reflect more deeply on their experience as we read becoming the Good News together. The cost of the book is covered by the grant. Contact Patrick Schmadeke ([email protected]) with any questions.
We will kick off in Fall 2026. More info to come soon!
What We Believe
Friendship with Jesus, wonder at the splendor of creation, a life lived at the service of others, and moments of communion in the life of the Church—there is nothing quite like these. They all point us back to our source: the God who made us.
We believe that the glory of God is the human person fully alive. We discover this alive-ness, when we see the world as God sees it. This impels us forward, breaks and fills our hearts, and invites us to live as Jesus lived: to encounter and accompany one another in each moment along life’s journey. The Holy Spirit is calling, and we respond with renewed commitment and awe at the marvel of God’s beauty. We believe that falling in love with God changes everything, and when we journey together on our pilgrim way, we come face to face with the God who made us.
