2026-2027: Inquiry / Proceso de AplicaciónFormation for the (permanent) diaconate is divided into three phases: inquiry, aspirancy, and candidacy. During the inquiry phase, those discerning a possible call to the diaconate begin a period of purposeful reflection on this calling.

Formation Sessions: Spring 2027
In the past, participation in our Diocesan Lay Ministry Formation Program was a prerequisite to applying for the Deacon Formation Program. Since our lay ministry program is not currently being offered, during the spring, applicants will be required to attend a number of formation sessions to assist them in preparing for the work that will be expected of them if admitted to the Program. These sessions will be held on Saturdays at the chancery in Davenport, from 8am to 3pm.1/16/27—Prayer: Foundation of Formation 2/6/27—Vocation, Discernment, and Community 3/6/27—Introduction to Theological Study 4/3/27—Ministry: What is it? How do we do it? 5/1/27—A Spirituality of Attentiveness: Reflecting Theologically
